Beginning October 1, 2019 SOCKBOX.ca is proud to launch our official fundraising campaign benefitting The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Our commitment is to donate a minimum of $10,000 per year to support world-leading cancer research at one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.
For every pair of socks that we ship, 25¢ will be donated to help conquer cancer in our lifetime.
That means a minimum of $12.50 will be donated for every order of custom socks. Our annual Sock Lovers Advent Calendar® will generate a $6 donation. $3 for an annual Sock of the Month subscription. And so on, and so on.
Why Cancer Research?
When you talk about cancer, it’s tough not to encounter someone that has an experience to share. Each of us has a cancer story. It may be our own story. Or we may have known the loss of a friend or loved one. One way or another, we have all come to understand the physical and emotional toll that this disease can take.
And we’re no exception. Marshall Stevenson, SOCKBOX.ca Founder, lost his younger brother at the age of two-and-a-half to cancer in 1985. Since then, more friends and family members have also been lost. And thankfully, some have also been survivors. It’s the survivors that give hope.
Why The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre?
When we began researching possible beneficiaries to align with, our research was quick to determine The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as our sole benefactor. The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is one of the Top 5 cancer research centres in the world, and the leading cancer research centre in Canada. Pair that with our goal of eradicating cancer, and the choice was easy.
Why now?
It’s a lesser known fact that SOCKBOX.ca turned five in November 2019. Over the first five years we’ve shipped more than 200,000 pairs of socks across Canada. We wanted to prove that we could *cough* stand on our own two-feet *cough* without the need of social giving as an expectation. We think we’ve done that. As for giving, we absolutely gave, and will continue to give, socks and donations to selected organizations that benefit their cause.
By supporting The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, we can now focus our giving to make an even larger impact. And as a sock lover, you can know that every purchase you make from us will help make the world a better place.

We are proud to have Sockbox support the annual Sugar Bowl fundraiser with a subscription as a silent auction. It’s a unique and popular item and brings a lot of interest to our varied selection. We appreciate the donation as the extra funds raised help us support emerging writers, journalists and literary programs in Western Canada.
